ECV Winter-Spring Programme 2009
MAY 2009

Sunday 3rd
Trent Country Park
Meet 10.00 am Staff Yard, far end of Snakes Lane (off Bramley Rd, opp. Oakwood Tube) by Animal Corner

Rhododendron has little wildlife value, and now that we know it is host to a disease that is dangerous to our native oaks, we will be continuing the removal in Williams Wood.
Sunday 17th
Forty Hall
Meet 10.00am Forty Hall car park, off Forty Hill.

We didn’t manage to finish the fence repairs the last time we were here to keep the sheep and pigs out of the park, so we will endeavour to do so today.
Sunday 31st
Grovelands Park
Meet 10.00 am Staff Yard, nearest entrance off Broad Walk, Winchmore Hill

Hopefully the additional boardwalk materials will have arrived and we can continue the boardwalk started last month.

JUNE

Sunday 14th
Whitewebbs Park
• Meet 10.00 am Whitewebbs Golf Course OLD car park, behind Rose & Crown pub, Beggars Hollow, off Clay Hill.

The aqueduct at Flash Lane is a listed structure with English Heritage, so we have to look after it, which means removing any vegetation and keeping the brook flowing underneath.
Sunday 28th
Whitewebbs Park
• Meet 10.00 am lay-by at Mile & a Quarter North footpath entrance, Whitewebbs Lane/Road.

More fencing – this time we will also need to remove some of the self seeded ash, so that the fence and views are retained.

JULY

Sunday 12th
Hilly Fields Park
? Meet 10.00am opp. St John’s Church, adj. Fallow Buck, Strayfield Road, Enfield

As we don’t have sheep to graze the small meadow where the yellow meadow ants reside, we have to take on the role of sheep and cut down the encroaching vegetation. We may also fell some trees to enlarge the area.
Sunday 26th
Oakwood Park
Meet 10.00am Pavilion, entrances on Prince George Av and Lakenheath opp. Saxon Way.

The acid grassland is gradually expanding and today we will be continuing the good work.

AUGUST

Sunday 9th
Pymmes Park
Meet 10.00 am Staff yard, Pymmes Park, Victoria Rd. Edmonton.

Last time’s trip onto the island proved most productive. Now that the birds have finished nesting, we will be visiting again.
Sunday 23rd
Trent Country Park
Meet 10.00 am Staff Yard, far end of Snakes Lane (off Bramley Rd, opp. Oakwood Tube) by Animal Corner

More work in the Nature Trail, improving this version of the park in microcosm.
